I'm Back......finally

We got home last night after sitting in airports for 9 hours....we spent more time waiting for flights than the flights actually took lol.

Saw our house, has harsh words with the real estate and got to spend Saturday gardening there, it seems our tenants don't believe in gardening or cleaning up spilt drinks....hmmmm I wasn't happy I can tell you, they have been told to pay for a gardener or the rent will be increased to cover the cost of one and to get the carpets clean ASAP and provide the receipt to us, pushy aren't I.

I took my stitching but didn't do any I know slack but mum and dad wore me out I was in bed asleep by 10 most nights. I did visit some divine quilting shops though, The Quilt Patch in Launceston just a gorgeous shop, Esme's in Launceston I bought some stitchery patterns and some Pellon, we went to a gorgeous gorgeous shop in Latrobe and I bought some reproduction fabrics for a quilt that my hubby likes and a pattern for a secret project :), then on to Ulverstone where I walked away with all the fabric for a yummy yummy quilt. I seriously need more hours in my days lol.

My girlies were so excited last night when we got home, both of them talking over the top of each other it was a noise I didn't miss I can tell you.

Going AWOL

I'm leaving on a big old plane or 2 tomorrow night :)

I along with girlie # 3 are flying to visit grandma and grandpa and leaving girlies 1 & 2 here with daddy :) :) :) lucky lucky daddy I am sooooooo excited that I am staying up to do web check in at 0005 hrs

I've got lots to do tomorrow though, I have to do the washing or we shall all be naked, I need to try and get some muslin for a project if not tomorrow will definately get it while I am away, I need to pack our bags and unload 3/4 of the girlies 'must haves' for the red eye flight, hello little one you WILL sleep all the way lol. I am getting my hair cut and coloured....long overdue next Tuesday at noon, I am going to surprise our property manager on Friday lol and will get to visit our house next week :), I get to go to REAL shops, limited to Rockmans here :( and who can resist a visit to McDonalds.....not us lol.

I am waiting very impatiently for a book delivery from Amazon.com, I have some japanese fabrics winging their way here and I also snuck in an order with Patchwork Angels for Anni Downs A Christmas Story and a Lynette Anderson stitchery..... and I am going to be so BUSTED lol as they will all arrive while I am away, lucky my man loves me :)

I spent today at my local patchwork shop, Tuesday is my intro to patchwork class, I have completed 4 of the 9 blocks, I am using black and white fabrics and it looks fab if I do say so myself, although I am having 'point' issues on 1 side EVERY WEEK lol at least I am out of the back sew habit I had lol. I will try and get some pictures of my blocks on the blog tomorrow in fact I am taking the blocks out and placing them with the camera beside the computer, which is the 2nd thing I switch on each morning right now lol

SO the blog will be quiet until I return but I will definately update as soon as I get home hopefully I will have some sharies for you all.

This is the bag I made during the week, I really enjoyed doing the stitching. It is designed by Elizabeth Williams and was in Australian Country Threads, Vol 8 No 6 which was a Stitchery edition

and the 1st block of girlie #2's quilt. It is Little Bluebirds designed by the gorgeous Janelle Wind my first attempt at needleturn applique which I think looks okay except for the birds beak/head.....it needs a bit of a tweek

and I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone who has left a comment for me, my dh just doesn't get as excited as me when I complete a project, lol, so its great to see the comments :) :)

The first project I did was a table runner, self taught and with only a small amount of help from the local patchwork shop :) on how to do the corners, which I mastered finally yesterday

Then I decided to start on quilts for the girlies, now this quilt is very bright not my cup of tea AT ALL but I guess when you give 2, 7 year olds and an almost 5 year old free reign amongst the fabric the result I got was to be expected lol

and it took me AGES to do it......and I had to unpick 3/4 of it as I ended up with curved strips.....I hate curved strips lol.

My bag is finished, and I think it looks fantastic and I cannot wait to use it. I managed to finish the first block of girlie number 2's quilt late this afternoon, which was fantastic timing as the 2nd block arrived in the post yesterday, so I will get some pics tomorrow and upload them asap. Its just too dark now.

It was one of those days

You know the day, its the day that if something is going to go wrong it will go wrong.

My little car had starting issues this morning and I am a bit concerned as it is only 7 months old..... fingers crossed she starts in the morning first pop, or RAC I am calling you!

then I decide that I would cut some gorgeous fabric I picked up last week to start the bag I am making, bad bad idea. I completely messed up and I messed up so badly that I had to go into town and buy another 1.1 metres....is turning out to be an expensive bag lol but its all cut out and I need to finish the embroidery which will take about 20 minutes then I can get stuck into the sewing of it on Wednesday.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother lol

Its true I love to stitch.

I am very new to quilting but have stitched so many cross stitches over the years, I have finally branched out to actual stitcheries and I love them, Who knew the backstitch, lazy daisies and the odd french knot or 20 could give so much enjoyment lol.

Quilting wise I am up to week 3 of the intro to quilting class I am doing, not that that has stopped me from doing any quilting. I am making a 2nd sampler at home using the same blocks that I am doing in class.

I have a quilt top for dd #1 that just needs to be backed and some hand quilting done. DD # 3 well her quilt is in its packet on the ironing board lol and dd # 2 hers is a WIP, I only have 6 more BOM's and it will be finished and I have a divine pile of fabric cut ready for me to start sewing, that is a quilt for my bed.

I'll make sure I snap some pics during the week of my WIP's
