Some Kind Of Wonderful Flimsy

I spent all day on the columns and finally at

2:30pm I stitched my last seam,

and my latest night time stitching projects

Hope, Love and Friendship by Rosalie Quinlan

and I am working on

Vintage Broderi also by Rosalie at the moment

my next quilting/night time project is in the latest issue of

Down Under Quilts and is called

Autumn Applique

we are going winter clothes shopping for the girls in Bega tomorrow

so I will get my background fabric and then I will be good to go.



Sew Close and A Prayer is needed

I really, really, REALLY want to start a new sewing project

but as I made 2012 my year of the UFO, I can't

allow myself to start anything new until I have finished

what is already started

(that doesn't include my Dear Jane

of the Civil War quilt nor hubby's NYB they are

works in slow progress)

Yesterday I sat at my sewing machine and worked on

my SKoW Quilt.

Here is my progress

all the blocks joined into their columns

Today I will continue working on it,

I can feel a SKoW flimsy finish hopefully by the

end of today :)

and way ahead of schedule too

Now as you know my mummy is fighting a big fight at the

moment. She started her BIG Chemo last week and

despite all her assurances of I will be fine, I breezed through

the baby chemo, she is struggling with side effects BIG chemo brings

If you could say a little prayer for her I would really appreciate it :)

FNSI results and another OPAM finish

I managed to get the binding sewn onto my

Bear Paws quilt yesterday after I got Henrycat to

relinquish his sleep spot

Then Henrycat and I watched the tugs 'Bulimba & Warringah' head out

to meet the woodchip ship that Webby was bringing into Port

He blasted the horn and come out onto the Bridge wing to wave

eventually after dinner was cooked and the kitchen cleaned and everyone

was organised for the evening I got time to sit and start to sew down 352 inches of binding

of course with Henrycats assistance

its offical name is

'Summer Stomping Ground' and it was a kit from

the fat quarter shop which I bought late 2010

and ta da, at 1:30am this morning the final stitch was sewn it was a 7 hr

stitching session. I did ask hubby how many nights did he think it would take

he looked at me a said, 'My bet is you will sit and sew until it is done'

he knows me well :)

I love the colours, love that it has such a long drop on each side

its a biggie at 88" square, its very 'ME'

and Henrycat has made it 'his' as you can see by the fur he left behind

after his 10 minute power nap this morning

I now offically have a UFO free sewing room and todays mission

is to find something new to sew.



Kaleidoscope Hexagons

Ta Da, it was really hard to get a fabulous photo

these were the best I could do

I love the shadowed effect I managed to get,

with the sun shining through the branches of

the  huge Norfolk Pine we have growing

love the view over the fence we have, I could sit and stare at

it all day long, watching the fishing boats steam out each evening

and then heading home each afternoon.

and a close up of the finished quilting, not that you can really see it

we had some visitors this afternoon they had a great time on the

bird feeder and fence, the naughty puppy didn't see them or

he would have chased them off. He has a love/hate relationship

with the plovers and currawongs that love our yard and spends

most of his afternoons chasing them out of the yard

My Bear Paws quilt is completely quilted, tomorrow I will make the binding and

sew it on, then start stitching down all 352 inches of it. The finished

size is 88" x 88". I can't wait to have it on my bed.

I have almost finished my Rosalie Quinlan stitchery.

I just have the words and some

french knots to stitch. Its supposed to be put onto a

canvas but I think I will make mine into a quilted wall hanging.

and its Friday night sew in tomorrow, can you guess what I am going to

be working on ;)

its a Finish

the Kaleidoscope Hexagons Quilt that is

I managed to finish all the quilting on it yesterday it took me 5 days

of doing little bits at a time to get it quilted, then I used

up the 'leftovers' and made some binding

then stayed up until the wee small hours of this morning stitching

the binding on.

Washed it, dried it and it looks fabulous

I just need Summer to come back so I can put it on my bed

remember this quilt, ( top finished June 11)

This morning I pieced together backing fabric for it

and it's now on the quilty beast and I have even started

the quilting, no fancy pattern, just an all over

stipple using Black Rasant thread, I love Rasant thread

for quilting, I'm hoping to get the majority of it done

tomorrow then Friday finish it off and sew

the binding on and stitch it down

Friday and Saturday night

this is my new winter quilt, and I can't wait for it to make it

onto my bed.

Otherwise life goes on as normal here, we had a party on

Saturday night for hubby's birthday, good friends, good food

and few drinks, perfect way to celebrate

Sunday I got to sit and stitch and watch crap on tv, while hubby

and the girlies looked after me for a change, I had bacon and eggs

for breakfast, Lasagne for lunch and Chinese for dinner and an early

night :)

oh an excitment plus, the tv man finally called in yesterday and

sorted out our tv reception issues, we now have crystal clear

reception and its running through the Austar like its supposed to

and tomorrow hubby is crawling under the house to moved

the aerial cord from the bunkers room to my sewing room

now if the real eastate can pull out their fingers and get all the

jobs that need doing here, I will be one happy bunny



Sewing, DIY, Happy Mail & other stuff

Its been a busy kind of week for me

Last Tuesday I bought a desk for the computers

and I even put it together myself

ta da

please excuse the mess beside it and I need to get

some cord tidy things

I worked on my Kaleidoscope Hexagon Quilt

I have 2 rows to add to the side and then 2 rows to add to the top

it will just be a topper, its so happy and bright and I am

loving it

I worked on my Some Kind of Wonderful Quilt

I have 2.5 blocks left to stitch then I will sew it all together

We watched the Super moon Rise

yesterday hubby brought the

Bark Endeavour into Port, we are lucky and get a personal

guided tour tomorrow after school

and this ferry which called in to refuel as it is on its way to Noumea

I ordered this book on March 28, it has FINALLY arrived

and my sneaky shopping

and I LOVE these 2 as well

The Rosalie designs are for when I have no hand sewing to do at night

time, which will be very soon as my SKoW quilt blocks are almost done

and my KHQ is so close to being finished.

and my long legged girl Emma came 2nd in the Cross Country on Friday

this Friday we are off to Wolumla so she can take part in the

Far South Coast Zone Cross Country. We were very proud of her

especially as the bulk of her run last Friday was on sand.

Today I hope to get those extra rows made and ready to sew on the KHQ,

I am housebound waiting for the Austar man to come and connect our 2nd box

hubby is suffering football withdrawals



Shipping, Shopping & Small Quilts

I am still plodding away with the frustrating

Kaleidascope Hexagon Quilt.

I have 7 rows sewn together,

that leaves me with 6 rows to sew together

and the extra rows to make it big enough

 hubby bought in a woodchip ship

on Tuesday

as it sailed past he blasted the horn for my benefit

it did make me giggle and it was sooooo loud, once he did that I

locked the house and went to Merimbula and

bought a desk for the computers.

and this is my baby version of Aprils Small Quilt of the month

I am a member of Kathleen Tracy's Yahoo group

each month she gives us a small quilt to make out

of one of her books.

They are alot of fun and quick to make

this baby 9 patch doll quilt measures

13.5" x 9"

hubby asked last night when I was making another 5,

when I asked him what he was talking about

his  comment was

'well it's a placemat isn't it'

that did make me laugh

So thats all that has been happening in

my neck of the woods.

I best get onto those hexagons, I just want it finished

so I can start a new project guilt free :)

oh and might have had a little shop online Monday night

so I had best check the PO box and see if it has arrived :)

Hexagon Progress and I'm excited

Yesterday after I did all my housework

and the Telstra Tech finally sorted out the

ADSL issues, and dh came home for lunch

I decided to start sewing my

Kaleidascope Hexagon Quilt together,

If I had known just how fiddly it was going to be

to sew those rows together I would have

NEVER started it.

It took my 3 hours just to get 3 rows sewn

and I only have 10 more rows to go,

plus the extra blocks so it fits my bed.....

its going to look fabulous when its done, but its also going

to drive me crazy getting it done.

So my plan of attack it to sew the remaining blocks into 2

row sets, then add them to the rows I have already done.

and I am excited because my mama and daddy are coming to

visit us in 7 months and 22 days...

they are coming to have christmas with us this year and in March

when mum has her next significantly numbered birthday we will

go to her to celebrate.

I haven't done much sewing at all since we moved, I spent a good part

of last week in the gardens sorting them out, removing weeds, dead bushes

pruning trees, replanting our veg patch, and mulching. It took 4 bales just to

mulch the 2 front garden beds.

We also found bulbs in the main bed, very close to the surface, so Imogen and

I have replanted them, we have no idea what they are, can't wait for spring to

find out.

today is desk buying day in Merimbula, as soon as dh comes past with

the ship and blows the horn I am out of here. We need a desk because

I won't let him bolt the UHF radio to my sofa table, which is what

are using at the moment for a computer table.
