Going Home

way ahead of schedule but thats how these things happen.

Mum has been taken off all treatments, as they aren't working and she isn't getting better

Dad called and asked to me to get there asap, so I am going in the morning.

She doesn't have long, and is most likely being moved to a hospice to receive palliative care.

To say I am shattered tonight is no where near enough to describe how I am feeling.

If you could all say a prayer for my mum and my family that she passes peacefully and without pain or suffering I would really appreciate it.

I am going to be facing the hardest time in my life over the next couple of weeks. Something I thought I wouldn't be facing for quite a few more years. I am not sure what I should be doing either, I guess all I can do is thank her for being my mum, tell her I love her and promise her I will look after my dad and be there at the end

It's Back

My mojo that is. Since my last post I have a couple of hours

left of appliqué on mums quilt, 

then while wandering blog land the 

other day I came across a pattern that

loudly shouted

Make Me

so I wandered to the www store and ummed and ahhed about

buying the pattern for it, decided nope, can't really swing it, 

and then remembered I already had the pattern

in Annette Gero's gorgeous book

'The Fabric of Society'

So out came the reproduction stash, and 9metres of

background fabric and I was good to go

on Saturday morning.

Dancing Dollies is in Progress.

I have prepped 2 dolly strips, ready to be stitched down,

I have basted 40 hexagons, tomorrow I will cut out another 

40 and get them basted also

ready for my 3 hr layover in Melbourne on Friday.

Nothing better than a bit of hand sewing while

waiting for a flight

Really pleased to be going home, mum is in hospital, she

was admitted last Wednesday morning with severe pneumonia

no one has mentioned when she will be released

so my guess is I will be taken straight to the oncology

ward as soon as I land to surprise her. She has no idea I am coming

home. Dad will be fed properly again & I will leave him with a freezer

of food and his favourite cakes & biccies in the pantry.

I am also bringing home all of mums fabric stash, so I have

been told, but as I have a 6 kilo luggage allowance difference

between the airlines, my guess is Aus Post will be delivering her

fabric stash.

Our little house guest 'Annie' went home tonight. Annie

has been staying with us for 10 days and we miss her

But we have visitation rights so its all good. I think I will ask

Santa for a Maltese x Poodle for Xmas the girls adored having 

her even Henry tolerated her.

To all who were on sewing retreats last weekend

I was very jealous, you are all very blessed to 

have the chance to meet up with like minded people

and spend your days stitching & laughing.

One day I might just join you.

The Funk Continues & Sad News

Last post I was in a major sewing funk,

Sadly the funk has continued, I am behind

in so many things including the stitch along,

swaps and my own projects.

The biggest reason for my funk is my mum is in the final

stage of her cancer journey. I found out 4 weeks ago that her lung tumours 

have spread and we are all trying to prepare ourselves for the end.

Not that anyone can  or will tell us how long she has.

I am flying home for a week on the 2nd, just to spend some time

with her while she is still reasonably well.

I have quilted her quilts, and she has them and loves them and I have been madly

trying to finish the last quilt she was making for all the grandchildren. 3 more

nights of needle turn appliqué and it will be ready to give to her

machine quilter on the 10th for a custom quilting job.

So I am bit sad, very scared of what is going to happen & desperately wishing 

the last 18 months were just a dream.

Long time with no posts

I have been in a bit of a funk, no blogging, no mojo for sewing, just spending time with my little family loving them silly.

My twinnies turned 12, 2 weeks ago gosh they grow up far to quickly, I had a birthday too. This year I was 32+10, sounds so much better than saying I turned 42!

My mum had a cat scan last week to check up on her cancer issues, sadly they weren't good results her lung cancer has spread her choices are do nothing, hard core chemo or take a tablet which will give her itchy acne, mum has always had beautiful skin so she has ruled that treatment out. She doesn't want chemo as it makes her so unwell so I am waiting for her to tell me she is going to do nothing at the moment.

In true mum fashion she is booking a holiday, her reasoning is she needs to use her frequent flyer points while she can, bless her, so we are having visitors very soon, can't wait to see her & dad again.

It's school holidays here, not much happening this week at all, next week however will be busy and very, very cold as  Emma and I are off to Canberra on Sunday. It's Kanga Cup time, Em is so excited, she has games Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, we are hoping to make the finals which start on Thursday and then home on Friday via Spotlight & Addicted to Fabric :) in preparation for the cold Canberra winter I have knitted myself a scarf and a very cute beanie, they are expecting -3 on Monday and we have a soccer game at 8:45am Lordy we are going to freeze!

Dh & I bought in my quilting frame from the garage last weekend so far I have quilted 2 quilts  they just need the binding sewn down and we juggled furniture so it can stay in the house permanently. Henry loves it inside and he spends a lot of time sitting on it or sleeping in his basket in the sun and of course it makes a great spot for bird watching through the windows
