So Close

To a finish for July, can I do it

my Tis The Season catchup blocks

this morning they looked like this

and after a bit of sewing, they now look like this

and the lonely last block, hopefully tonight I will get it stitched,

and sewn to these so I can attempt a july finish

I did say hopefully!

What a Day

it started for me at 6:30am

I drank coffee, read the paper organised the girlie's

for school got them out the door then I had to do

the housework as the real estate was coming so we could organise

new and reliable and GOOD tenants

I was pleasantly surprised at what they think we can get per week

then it was off to the tip and the op shop with a boot load of rubbish and

donations.

Upstairs is now sorted, but I still have to tackle under the house

and it is FREEZING cold today so I plan on coming home and getting

settled under the heater with my TTS blocks,

of which I have 2 and bit blocks left to stitch.

Looks like I might get this SAL project done and dusted BEFORE

we head to NSW

31 days til we catch the boat and 28 days til we leave our home

AGAIN......

have to take Soph to violin so I will be back tonight with photos of my TTS blocks

I survived

my first foray to under the house

this is what I faced...

Now it looks like this, empty tv boxes & suitcases

the sorting pile, 1 box a day is my plan

Friday Frenzy

Looks like tomorrow I will have to start going through

under the house (insert the scary Twilight Zone music)

because

I think I need a plumber.......

we ran out of hot water tonight, which is weird

because the HW cylinder only managed to supply hot water for 3 showers today

mine this morning and the twosomes tonight, Miss Imogen was the lucky one who

got the cold shower........

So the plumber can get to the cylinder I need to remove a large amount of

'stuff' so if I am moving it for him, I am moving it and sorting through it.

Otherwise it will be a very normal day, housework, washing, purging

 I am going to officeworks to look at shredders and get some photos

put onto a disc, then I have to go to the local PCYC to fill in paperwork as I have booked

the trampoline room for the girls to have some fun with their friends

before we leave. The invites are all written and the girlies are very excited,

so 3 weekends in a row, we will be busy!

next weekend Sophie is having her late birthday sleepover,

the following weekend its Emma's turn for a sleepover

then its their goodbye party the weekend after that

then dh arrives home and it will be our last weekend in our house

with our friends and family before we go :(

Today I have been out all day, I went for a drive down the river to see

Pauline and while I was there I picked up some reproduction fat 16ths for my Dear Jane,

some delicious tins, some 'bobs' of Sue Daley's, and some fabric to add into the Bear Paws

backing and a lil box of Moda Candy Bars with Luna Notte, Clermont Farms,

Collections for a Cause ~ Hope and Rememberance, then I called into the supermarket

for lunchbox snacks, I went and had coffee with a girlfriend, collected the girlies fromschool and we went Kmart looking for Navy woollen stockings for the girls to wear to school, they didn't have any

so we ended up at Target, got the stockings and a new cardi for me and finally

we went to see Grandma and Grandpa for a little while.

I will be sure to take some photos tomorrow in the sunlight and I will even take a photo

of 'under the house' so you can see what I am facing, so I guess I will do a before I start and

a look how much I didn't do got done shot.

Task avoidence is not on my to do list tomorrow :) and I am tired just writing all that down.

Always Be Prepared

Is the brownies, girl guide and scouts motto

I must have been absent that day at Brownies lol

Its not long until we go now, we have a moving date

we have a big enough house to move into

but I am not prepared for this

every other move we have made we have travelled with

ALL our belongings, 2 containers worth

(moving in day, WA, Feb 08)

of our 'stuff'

this time we have to fit into 1 little container

now I have to get serious on what we can do without

until we can afford to move it up there, what to throw out, what to give away

what to send to storage.......I know that the biggest headache is under the house

its our 'just put it in there for now spot' + approx 12 large FULL movers boxers

that we never unpacked when we came home from WA, guess I will be unpacking them

now lol, and dh well he arrives here 2 days before the movers come, just enough time to

pack 'our stuff' into a storage shed, and do a couple of tip runs :)

Oh the joys of moving interstate........again

think of me driving to NSW with 1 husband, 3 kids, 2 cats and a dog

I may need sedation along with the cats......

Cleaned, Purged & Sorted

my little sewing room that is

this basket once held patterns

which now live in 2 drawers here

the bins hold, projects ready to go, WISP, BOM fabrics & scraps

oh and my jelly rolls, charm squares and layer cakes

this cupboard was once overflowing with stuff, so I have sorted it out,

purged some, donated some, and now I have a basket of fabric by the metre,

a basket of fat 1/4s, and other stuff

my tidy cutting table, with some Dear Jane blocks waiting to be made.

Yep round 3 with Jane, I will eventually finish my baby jane, just not sure

how far off that is lol

and on my sewing table, my bear paws quilt top, wadding

and backing fabric

and that is just the start of it all, I will be cleaning, purging and sorting

the house it seems we might have an new address happening

in around 6 weeks all going well, fingers crossed etc etc

 



Civil War Quilts update

I decided today was a sew whatever I want day

so I pulled out my Civil War Quilts blocks, patterns

and fabrics and I am thrilled to say

I managed to get 11 sewn

now I am only 5 behind

I am really enjoying this project and can't wait to finish it



Quilting Tips needed

ok ladies I need some advice now

my Bear Paws quilt top is FINISHED

and its a HUGE 90" x 90" which means I have big enough

drop on each side to make me happy :)

BUT

I want to quilt it, nothing fancy just in the ditch so who has some

hints and tips for me to do this.

I plan on moving my machine out to the dining table again so I have room to move

and I'll baste it my usual way with the spray baste, but should I also pin it??

oh so exciting I LOVE his quilt

I just don't like it now its finished

my schnibble that is

and I am still working on my Bear Paws

hoping like crazy I have enough borders sewn

together, I guess I will know tomorrow when I sit down

to sew the final border on...

First up I have this

7 completed TTS blocks

flying geese for a schibble quilt

this pattern from the Quilted Crow along with all the fabric

for it, I bought this mid 2010

then I was in a cupboard looking for something else and found these

charm square packs x 2 in beach house so I want to make

this quilt

and I have all the goodies to make this one too using  a Shangri-La

jelly roll

and I have a jelly roll and layer cake of Clermont Farms

by Minick and Simpson and I am seriously considering making this

from the Moda Bakeshop

Back to Normal Programming

Thank you very much

our  visitors went home today

so we were up early, making sure nothing was left behind

beds were stripped

towels and sheets washed

then I got to move back in

to my sewing room where I proceeded to start sweing the strip sets

for the final border for the Bear Paws

and I finished Florence for my baby girl

I had gathering issues for her leg cuffs so I just hemmed them

and she has buttons sewn on each side of her shorts to hold them up

and Tis the Season update

Progress is being made :)

I have a 61/2 " scrappy block border to go then its finished

for now

I went out this morning and came home to this sight

which very quickly became this invasion of 'personal space' attack

followed by one very smug happy Henrycat

and between cat referee-ing and sewing bear paws

I have been reading this and it is a gorgeous book

a must have for your bookshelf  :)

and getting set to start stitching on these again
