My Stitch A Long Tote bag for Feb

and news on my mum.

Hmmmmm, I had a very sad day on Thursday but I was

blessed to spend it sewing with good friends which kept me

from wallowing in sadness

Mum underwent a CAT scan 2 weeks ago, to see what was happening

with her lymphoma and to make sure her treatment was working,

she had an appointment Wednesday for the results well

I forgot about the scan results appointment until late Wednesday night

so started calling her at 8:30 am Thursday, no answer, 8:45am no answer,

I called my sister, no answer, I called mums mobile, no answer

then my daddy called me from the doctors rooms and told me that

her lymphoma was under control and she needs 12 months of

1 treatment per month 

BUT

 the scan showed that the lung cancer was active again so its

more radiation treatment and nasty chemo for her.

We aren't to sure when her treatment will start, and we are all

going home at the end of March for her 70th birthday which

I am really pleased I am doing now.

The Decision

has been made

My tote bag for the SAL will be made out of.....

I am ready to stitch too I picked up some blue/grey

dmc floss this morning while I was shopping for.......

Backing fabric for Tail Feathers and wadding, I think

the fabric I chose will work well

and I am a lover of tins, and couldn't resist this one,

it will soon be home to my hexagons

hubby took me out to lunch and he bought me a 

chilli plant & he paid for the groceries we needed.

I have just baked Red Velvet cupcakes for the girlies so 

I best go ice them before they get home.

I need to make the next SAL project which is a bag

designed by Natalie Bird, its in her Red Home book

anyhoo

my dilemma is WHICH fabrics do I use,

which is where you come into play

Do I make it bright and fun with these gorgeous 

fabrics

Spots can be bag bottom, top, handles and back

these can frame the stitchery

the inside of the bag and also on the front

or do I go this way using yummy yummy

Independence Trail fabrics and

the Hoffman dark and Michael Miller light 

Now remember I am a very traditional quilter

I love reproduction fabrics, soft muted country colours,

 and to be 100% honest 

brights really scare the beejeezus out of me

but I do so love the buggy fabric

Happy Mail Day

I love happy mail days, just seeing the parcel

man arrive at the front door gets me excited.

Today he bought me some delicious fabric that I purchased 

last Friday

and he delivered a delicious parcel of love

all the way from Miss P at

I miss visiting Miss P and her gorgeous shop

some uber yummy background fabric and a 

gorgeous fat quarter which was a present

and of course all had to be examined by

Henrycat who is currently sitting on the ironing board 

behind me, he doesn't like to miss out

I have more Happy Mail in the mail, which I will share as soon 

as it arrives.

Tail Feathers is almost done, I am working on Block 9

the last stitchery block, I do have the birds to appliqué 

onto blocks 7, 8 & 9 and then I will sew it together

and make the logs cabins. 

I can feel a finish coming on.

My next project is 'Butterfly Garden' I can't wait to make a start

I am saving Tillie's Lane to start just before Easter as we have a night in

Melbourne and then a 9+ hour trip on the Spirit of Tasmania + a week 

with my sister and her family as its Mums 70th birthday & then an 

overnight trip back to Melbourne and home.

Tillie's Lane and my Hexagons will be my silent travel buddies :)

Seriously Slack Since Sunday

Until today not a stitch has been stitched on anything

I have been seriously slack

actually I have been having some issues sleeping and am so 

tired during the day I haven't had the oomph to do anything

until today.

Last year I collected a BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop

Civil War Journals

and this year I am collecting 

Civil War Melodies

so I thought I should probably start sewing 

Civil War Journals.

The Finished Quilt should look like this

3 of the 8 blocks required for the 1st month

the remaining 5 blocks of month 1

and month 2, very similar to month 1

see so that is all the sewing I have done, slack aren't I ;)
