and I bought it, tonight I made

apple slice, and it tastes divine, girlies will get a surprise in their

lunch boxes tomorrow

will be making another one tomorrow morning for Grandpa.

Its a great book, with lots of yummy recipes in it :)

I am in Mourning & Sewing

for the remaining 362 days left of my 30's........

Why is it that the number 4 0 can scare the pants of some people,

I mean its only a number right....

but its a

BIG NUMBER

I like to say that in 2011 I will be turning 32 plus 8,

truth be told I plan on lying on a warm beach OS, with alcohol, dh and the girlies, relaxing on that particular day, in fact I told DH yesterday that I would prefer to have to fly somewhere where I could miss that day completely when you factor in time zones. Does anyone now where Iwould have to fly to to completely miss my 40th birthday.

in other news I have been working on Miss E's owly wall hanging, bought some gorgeous birdie fabric in adelaide for the outer border then completely changed the colours as I was stitching the owl's now I am stuck lol, hoping to have the top finished today and will share a pic then.Miss E loves it.

I have made gorgeous little fabric buckets from Janelle Winds new book, just need to stitch the binding down on 2 of them, photo to come when 100% finished I love them. I need to pick up a quilt from Leanne, the pin wheels (pink and white) I need to do the binding for the booger quilt its been home from Leanne for 2 weeks, then there is Dear Jane, Botanical birds, Miss I's cardi (knitting) 2 sleeves to go, beanies for Dad, S and E (knitting) 1 night to complete each, I have been sewing of a day and knitting at night and Yippee Packed to the Rafters starts again tonight knitting projects should all be completed by Sunday

So many projects, so little time,

Exhausted

Remember a while ago Dad and I chopped some branches off and I piled them up down the bottom of the yard because I couldn't be bothered tackling the hill to get them out the front????

well the view from my sewing room window has had a major transformation today its gone from this

and I pruned the roses unsupervised so I am guessing Mum will come and re do them properly lol

then after school the girlies and I spread 10 bales of pea straw

so our garden beds down the back now look like this

and no more shrubery down the bottom of the garden.

Now we just have wait for the tree lopping guys to come with their chipper and truck to take it all away :)

fingers crossed it will be gone by the weekend.

now I completely understand WHY the neighbours have a concrete lawn (seriously they do I will have to take a sneaky photo and show you) that was hard work but I am SURE it has done wonders for my legs lol

Distracted

I have been distracted by wool.

Miss I decided that she needed a beanie, so I made her one, she looks so gorgeous in it

now she wants a cardi lol

Miss E took Mice on Friday but I forgot to get a photo of them

DH headed off to work again this morning, but he did chop the tree down before he went, yesterday afternoon we dragged it all out the front and are now sorting out whether its cheaper to get the tree loppers in to chip it and remove it or the garden man..... and we had pea straw delivered to mulch with, just waiting for my dad to have a free day to come and help me out, he is chief rose prunner I am chief mulch spreader-outerer and mum is chief supervisor lol

So I guess from now I have to check all pockets before the washing goes in.

Fun fun fun......NOT

I have been sitting here remembering that 9 years ago I was in a hospital bed, 5cms dilated, bulging membranes and I was 35 wks 3 days pregnant I was having  contractions and had been admitted to hospital but according to my doctor I wasn't in labour !!!!!!

at 11:59pm Miss S arrived

at 12:05am Miss E arrived.

The outfits they are wearing are both 00000 and were too big, and Miss E still has her teeny tiny pixie suit, its red with a dark navy trim, it was VERY hard to find 00000 and smaller outfits 9 years ago

Sheesh those years have gone fast.

Those Darn Kids part 2

Those darn kids have broken the washing machine again, the pump has a blockage of unknown origins........

when I asked those darn kids, one happily said,

"Oh that would have been me, cause I had a teeny tiny heart in my jeans pocket, and its not there now" she had a giggle and walked off.

We are in Birthday mode here, we have

2 girlies celebrating their 9th bithdays on Sunday

mine is the following weekend

we are out to dinner tomorrow night

1 girlie took 27 lil pink cupcake mice today no photo of them though :(

the other girlie will take 27 lil pink cupcake ???? on Monday

we only have 1 cupcake carrier, and that was expensive enough and DH didn't think we needed 2 cup cake carriers.

Will be back soon with photos, and what we have been up to, new goodies and the Booger quilt is back and the next one was dropped off  this morning.

He slept on my pillow last night, first time for a week, he is in for a shock tonight, the non cat lover will be home, Henry will have to take his pillow else where, like back to Miss E's  bedroom.

and Henry Cat, as I mention in my last post he was less than impressed that at 6:09pm he still hadn't been fed so he took to the sink and wouldn't move until the food was forthcoming

then today we had a small amount of warn sunshine streaming in the front windows so he took to the table, wrapped himself around the laptop and the plant and had a siesta,

What a sweet life he leads.

Might be quiet over the next week we have a much missed daddy arriving home tomorrow for a very short week and do I have a list of jobs for him starting with removing 1 giant, sun blocking tree and I am sure he is excited to be chopping it down, I know I am excited that its going  lol

and I stitched 2.5 pies last night and managed to sew another onto its background. Hoping to do some more tonight while I watch Underbelly, love Underbelly and I have a DVD to watch also fingers crossed.

Pies and Tarts

I am over you

I sat down last night under the heater with Pies and Tarts, sewed 5 stitches before I bailed out, I am starting to think that my Pies and Tarts are going to be a long term project, I even said to my mum that I should aim for 2 pies and 2 tarts a night, but sadly that seems too hard at the moment lol

So today I thought I should continue truding along with the Slow work in progress piles so I made 3 more blocks of the Pennsylvania Dutch BOM I am doing through the Fat Quarter Shop.......oh how I love the Fat Quarter Shop, so now I am only 4 blocks behind YEE HAA, and after tonight the tally will hopefully only be 2 blocks behind.

I need to lift the BOM game, and do them each month not wait until they are all here then think what the hell was I thinking lol like the Pies and Tarts lol

and speaking of BOM's I have decided to do Lynette Andersons, Friends for Christmas BOM through Calico Crossroads, (love that shop too lol) as I was there this morning collecting my prize from the Biggest Morning Tea raffle that Pauline had, will share a photo of it tomorrow and of the blocks. Anyhoo I digress sorry, Pauline is running Freinds for Christmas as a BOM, she was out of alot of the fabrics she used so mine is going to be done in reproduction prints, can't wait to get started on it. I love making Christmas quilts :)

Was a very cold start to the morning also minus 1.6 at 9am Jack Frost came and had a great time over night, he even left ice trails on the deck.....

Have some great photos of Henry to share he was miffed because it was 6:09pm and he still hadn't been fed.... tomorrow I promise.

Its finished

Love the way Henry had to have a closer look too its not perfect, most of the bias strips only meet on on side lol, I had 12" finished pinwheel blocks not 12.5" oops so I had to cut the applique blocks down so they would fit.

mind you he has spent most of the afternoon, getting a closer look

then it all just got too hard for him

love that we have big wide windowsills that are just purr-fect for cat naps in the sewing room

its a pies and tarts night tonight under the heater in the warm :)

Retro Fun

I took the girlies to the museum this morning, for a couple of reason's

Cabin fever and a feeble attempt at Culture

took care of the cabin fever that just left culture, after lots of what are we doing, are you finished yet comments we found Retro Fun, bought 3 and its kept them busy for hours

I'll share a photo as soon as the camera battery charges.

Out for dinner with a girlfriend and her girlies tonight then home to sew the quilt top together

the last square of applique is on the machine, 6 shapes left to do yippee. That means as soon as I get it together, I can start a new project WOO HOO

The Last One

We woke up this morning to a wet, drizzley miserable kind of day, perfect sewing weather :)

The girlies watched movies and ate and ate and ate lol, so I got into the last UFO

so I have done a bit of this

counted these to see how many more I need to make

and rolled all if this no more tangled mess

all the pinwheels are made, I think I need 5 more applique block's

and

3 more of the tear drop shapes.

Hoping to have the top together by Friday.

and on a quilty note, I am onto the last UFO as of tomorrow

the applique is done, the borders are almost completely stitched on (2 sides to go on the final border), I got the backing fabric and wadding today and some more glue baste spray, its all systems go in the sewing room.

Darn Kids

they broke the washing machine lol

we had a blockage of an unknown type,

and it was all the girlies fault as it was only their washing in the machine, I am guessing a wee little rock as they went bush yesterday with Gumdrops and Frumpa for a very short cold while and my girlies do love to collect useless little bits and pieces and store them in their pockets.

and the oven element is FINE

it would appear to be the thermostat that is dying, so Gumdrops is getting an oven thermoter in town for me and then we will test the repairmans theroy.

So in my books it was $69 well spent and so much cheaper than a new machine :)

and I have now finished the washing :)

Thats my Three

You know they say things happen in 3's,

1,  was the hot water clylinder
2,  the element in the oven has died

well our third occured in the wee small hours of the morning.

I loaded up the washing machine and turned it on before I went to bed, woke up at 3am and I could hear beeping which sounded like it was coming from under the house so I went to investigate.

the stupid &*%$#@*( washing machine has issues, it has decided that it just doesn't want to drain the water, which is odd as it has a brand new pump in it replaced that a couple of months ago, with a load of sheets in it
Unfortunately this time it is FULL to the brim with clothes and water

Again today we are wait for a tradesman to come and hopefully fix it, otherwise, Webby we need a new one lol.

Now I am off to fill the laundry sink with clothes and try to get the water out.

They've been breeding

UFO's that is lol

I found another one from early 2009 all it needs is a bit of applique sewn on and 2 borders

thats the centre of it, the applique is sewn on

and the rest of it looks like this (please excuse the washing basket)

its all the applique around the edge is what needs to be sewn down, well only 2 sides now

and while I have been busy at the sewing machine Henry has been doing this on the border fabric

resting  he is currently resting on the ironing board lol oops no he has moved to the back of the armchair in the lounge

I have been busy doing the Botanical birds too

I'll have to get some photo's of it in the day light. that means I have 1 block to go then I can start sewing it all together.

So after the applique quilt top is done I still have 1 UFO to go and I am hoping that I don't find anymore because I really really want to get started on Aunt Hettie's quilt from the Quilted Crow.

Oh and big excitment here

Daddy is coming home on the 14th woo hoo, then he will be leaving us again a week later to start a new job as Master on a tanker......blah but hey its a job right.

Fingers crossed all UFO's have now been located and that I will find NO MORE, at least not for a while lol
