Weekly Update & A trip to the snow

We have had a busy couple of weeks, the hubster took 2 weeks holiday we

loaded up the car and headed off to Melbourne for a week, i can be a tad

cheeky when needed so when our son sent us a message asking where we were

how could I not send him this message in reply

We caught trams everyday, they were frequent and less stressful than

driving anywhere, love staying in St Kilda, where the trams run every 15 minutes

all ways good until it became 'peak hour', the kids shopped up a

storm 

we visited Ikea, my new favourite store, I was lucky enough to

bring a Raskog trolley home with me for my belated birthday present

we visited Amitie Textiles, I love this store, bright, airy

and full of delicious goodies. A starter kit for Georgetown On My Mind,

needles for handquilting and some Aurofil thread 12wt for hand quilting,

some fun fat quarters and a new pattern

trying to find our way back to the DFO outlet on Sunday

I bought a tagging gun to baste my quilts with, I just need to 

locate the teeny plastic tags

Henry was happy his people came home though

Ive been learning to crochet with the help of you tube and

attic 24, its supposed to be a square not a pear

went to the local library to find a how to crochet book, 

all I left with was a broken nail

today we went on a happy drive to find snow and find snow we did

this was taken in sleet and Black Lake which is between 

Cathcart and Bibbenluke

I drove behind this log truck until the trailer started sliding

from the weight of the logs

we pulled into a very nice mans driveway and the kids had some fun

(on the side of the highway)

Miss I made a snow angel at the top of Mt Darragh Road

we traveled up this road 2 hours earlier and there was NO SNOW

at all, and this is how it was half way down the Mt Darragh Road

Its was a fantastic afternoon, and I cannot wait to do it again

but this time we will head out in the morning not after lunch

My week in Pictures

the centre of the Amitie Mystery Bom is done, I need to add the eyes and legs to the birds though

I started to work on The Circle Game again, its been untouched since I attended Jen Kingwells class in Ballarat in March at The Cotton Factory, 

block 15

the centre is complete, stitched in a motel in Batemans Bay

and finished last night when I finally got home

I had the essentials packed on Saturday morning, computer, paperwork and stitching, I had to travel to Batemans Bay for a Soccer Meeting Saturday afternoon, I also remembered to take clothes, phew

when are hotels going to stop providing their clients with this god awful excuse for coffee, I ate their biccies though while I drank the coffee I bought from home in the mug I also travelled with.

I had a big Aldi Shop, a shop in Kmart, then drove home in the dark. I slept so well last night I didn't even wake up in time to get the girls ready for school but I was up in time to see them go to school.

Its another Soccer Meeting tonight, so no stitching, its freezing cold here today so I am about to sit down with a coffee under a quilt in front of the fire and do some stitching before I have to get dinner and head out for my meeting

Long Post

I must say its always nice to come home after a short holiday,

home definitely is where my heart is.

the day before we left Miss S needed a bag to take her

bits and pieces in the car, so I gave her one of mine and checked the

pockets before I handed it over to her and look what I found

My Grandmas Sapphire ring, I thought it was gone forever,

its been in the bag hiding since Aug 2011 when we moved.

I found 'that safe place' wish I could find the rest of my

safe places ;) 

We left early in the morning headed for Melbourne, pit stops

required in Cann River, Orbost, Bairnsdale & Sale

along with lunch in Trarlagon made for a LONG drive

we finally made it to our accommodation in St Kilda and

then meet up with the eldest child for dinner.

Thursday was another early start as we had to be at the

ship around 7am. The sailing was a tad rough & rolly

but there was no need for chicken bags, the girlies enjoyed

the free activities they had, watched a movie and I just chilled

out and read my book

and the most divine sunset in Devonport while we waited for 

the ship to set sail for Melbourne

the cat quilt

I also bought some new embroidery scissors and another pattern

which I can't find, dh bought me a new handbag which I love

and we all came home with new clothes, the girlies especially

and my hexagon project, this is what it looked like

before we left, i stitched in the car on the way to Melbourne

and that was all the sewing I did

there are 100 flowers, in total I used 850 individual

hexagons. I am now working on the side pieces.

We had a great time, it was nice to catch up with all the

family and to see those I hadn't seen for years, I was 

fabulous to see my mum and dad, especially as mum is so

very ill at the moment, thanks to her chemo treatment and the growing

tumor in her lung.

we didn't go and see our house, I couldn't do that and I am pleased

I didn't because I wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue 

my beautiful, expensive, established cottage garden is no more

there is nothing left, except for the hardiest of plants.

7 plants in total remain. So sad to see the photos even the front yard 

hasn't been spared.......

Its school holidays here, not much on our agenda except to relax and

do not much, kids are busy with their friends, I am busy with my hexagons

and I need to dust off the sewing machine and make some bee blocks

and I have 8 days to do this month SAL project, no pressure at all :)
