Monday I ate Malteasers, drank almost cold coffee and read Sundays paper

I worked on some blocks for The Circle Game

I made some templates for more blocks for The Circle Game

I fondled some gorgeous fabrics that came to live with me, 

Gardenvale by Jen Kingwell and True Colours by Tula Pink

I worked on another block for The Circle Game

and finished it

On Friday I was given a very quick lesson on hand quilting at my sewing group

and Im still quilting away at night

Saturday and Sunday were spent at a soccer tournament, I was official scorer, so while the games were on I kept on stitching

This really tickled my fancy on Sunday morning as we were headed to soccer at 7:30am

Sunday afternoon saw Henry take up residence on my lap, under my quilt, its rather tricky to hand quilt with a cat on your lap

but I persevered

making good progress, this was Monday

I will be honest I laughed, a lot at this

yesterday I took a trip to Bega for template plastic and some more pearl 8 cotton, the shop had just changed the brand of the pearl cotton they sell and have 3 baskets full of cottons being sold for $2 a ball, I decided to introduce some orange into my quilt, I will be going back to buy all the colours

I have half of the quilt, quilted as of today (Thursday 10/6)

today I cleaned up my sewing room, sorted fabrics and filled a basket of scrap pieces 

they are now being cut so I can make scrap vortex quilt

Change is as good as a Holiday

After a loong hiatus from blogging (5 posts since Jan 1) I have decided

its time to get back into my normal ways.

So this will hopefully be the first of a twice weekly blogging session, ok

maybe it will be once a week, I guess time will tell.

So whats been happening in the life of me, not to much to be honest

I am still stitching away, but have been producing much more hand

work than machine work of late. I have been busy sample sewing for 

another lovely Australian designer, its lovely to think that

someone thinks my sewing is good enough and are willing

to pay me to make up their designs……

The girls and I baked up a storm on Saturday, we made

Chocolate Coconut Slice,

mini quiches for lunch

and an apple cake which I forgot to snap a picture of

and of course I continued with my 

'project in my head' project. The centre of this

will be made up of 169 EPP flowers and as of 

today I have 30 left to baste and sew.

I also moved my sewing room around today, I was just sick of the

layout and the mess, so I swap the drawers for my cutting table 

cupboard, and purged and cleaned and re jigged and found treasures

These walls will not be bare for long, I have some delicious

mini quilts to hang there, I promise I will share when its

done.

Henry has a basket to sleep in now

You will have excuse the floor as I haven't vacuumed yet.

I visited Canberra with 2 friends and went to the Craft show

in August, I didn't buy too much, I did purchase this little 

sewing case, found some 1/2" hexie papers in my mess

and I managed to cover it so it now looks like this.

The Zebra is my favourite and no fabric has been used

twice, it was a great scrap busting project

My fingers were so sore when I finally finished stitching the

hexies to the case, I am sure a curved needle would work 

so much more

I've been working here and there on Aunties Greens Garden, this picture

isn't 'current' as I am working on the bottom floral borders.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer,

Blog Lovin, do I need it? what does it do and how do I get it??

Re-Arranging the Sewing Cave

it was uber cluttered and I couldn't find

anything so today I asked 2 girlies what they were

doing and when their reply was nothing....

I got them busy. We have unpacked cupboards and shelves

re organised plastic tubs of fabrics

we have moved shelves and cupboards

and moved them again.

My one issue was my design wall. In our house in

Tasmania and the house we lived in when we first

arrived in Eden, I had a full wall for my design wall

in this house I didn't, I had a quarter wall......

well I almost have a full design wall again

here is my new and improved sewing cave, please

excuse the floor, I haven't vacuumed it yet

this shelf unit used to stand upright,

dh suggested we flip it on its side and I must say it was

a fabulous idea, I can see a narrow shelf topper in my

immediate future :)

Dh also took the door off my Horn cabinet, as there was 

no room to stand at my cutting table when it was open

suits me to a tee as my sewing machine had mm to spare

whenever it had to be put away in the cabinet

for another 3 small quilts

this black box is cause of all my lack of wall

space issues, sadly I can't move it as its got something to do 

with the Port believe me if I could move it would be

out in the sunroom not in my sewing room

Its Clean Up time

my Christmas creating over the last few weeks has

left my sewing room looking more like a

bomb site than a place to sit and sew 

and enjoy the space.

See what I am faced with

pins, cotton and who else knows what under my sewing cabinet

my cutting table, which I can use ONLY if nothing needs to be cut

larger than a 4" square

even the floor below my design wall

and my computer desk, I can't get to the ironing

basket so that is piling up on the chair too

the empty lindt chocolate tins need to be binned, they were

for the girlies Christmas gifts for their teachers.

its not even organised chaos...sigh

The final 4 blocks of mums quilt... 1 done 3 to do in the New Year

because

month 5 of Lancaster has arrived, so I will be working on this

until all the appliqué borders are complete

4 more big sleeps until my mummy and daddy arrive 

(hence the big clean up lol)

and this morning I had the awful job of

telling dh that his uncle had passed away in the early hours

of the morning. 

I have kept him home from work (compassionate leave)

and sent him to golf.

We won't be attending the funeral but have flowers on the

way, there really isn't much else we can do from here.

RIP Uncle Lloyd.

The world lost a true gentleman this morning.
