Still Alive

                     In very random order here is some of whats been happening 

over the last 3 months

Midnight At the Oasis designed by Jen Kingwell, just needs the final border

              

I took myself to Ballarat and spent the day with the one and only

Jen Kingwell, we worked on The Circle Game

                  

Soccer season is well and truly underway 

                   

I travelled to Nowra for the PSSA soccer trials, for the Far South Coast

with this gorgeous girl

                 

Green Tea and Sweet Beans is waiting to be quilted, by hand

                     

We took a road trip on a cold miserable day just to get out of the house

                          

We found Ratty, Henrys most loved toy, he has had ratty

since he was a teeny little kitty

                       

This girl is a fully qualified Soccer Referee, as its her first year she 

can only run the sidelines but she is getting paid and

loving it

                     

This is on my to do list, its called 

My Small World and is designed by Jen Kingwell

                 

I've got  2 secret sewing projects destined for Quilt Market in the US

                   

Bring Me Flowers designed by Jen Kingwell, is my focus project at the moment, I have 2 full

alternate blocks and 8 half alternate blocks to stitch and I can

start sewing this baby up, I also need to add centre to one block and

add some stems

                     

This girl ran 4 kms last Friday in the Zone Cross Country, now for a girl

who ran along the beach for her school cross country before heading to

the hilliest course on the coast she did well to finish middle of the field

                      

Steam Punk, another Jen Kingwell pattern, I actually have around 24 blocks finished,

I've put this aside to finish Bring Me Flowers

                          

 

and as its Mothers Day, this photo of my mama was taken when she was 2, 

today is the 2nd of many more Mothers Day's to come without her. 

I miss her everyday

and would give anything just to talk to her once more

                      

** In case you hadn't noticed I am a total Jen Kingwell fan,

her book 'Quilt Lovely' is fabulous and worth getting

I'm Still Here.

Now that school has gone back .....phew
and dh is back at work after his 2 wks on the golf
course

life is returning to normal and I am sewing again

I have a little Christmas list to finish making

I have made the next blocks for 'Erin's Quilt'

I have started making blocks for a quilt that mum gave
me the pattern for, we were living in WA at the
time and I have been quilting for 6 months, so I have
been hanging onto it since 2008, but I do have a
good reason for starting it, she has asked  me to do all
the needleturn appliqué on her quilt, as its the last
grandchild's quilt (she has made 8),
and she is unable to do any
hand sewing these days due to issues from one
of her Chemo drugs. So I thought I would start mine
to get back into needle turn appliqué.

I have also started block 2 of Lancaster, it only took
2 weeks to arrive from Qld! Not happy Jan at all
so at my monthly sewing day today I cut out 60
clamshells and glued the fabric to the papers, and started
stitching mums quilt.

I have made my main SSCS gift, it just needs the final
touch and then I need to make the ornament, but I need some
wool felt for that, hoping I can get some while I am home.

I went to a quilt hanging on the weekend, and I bought a
pattern and sewline glue pen and refills, even thought they
had 35% off all fabrics and books, that was my
only purchase :) such restraint

Last Wednesday my baby girl turned 9,
sometimes I wish she still was that gorgeous, chubby
little girl who loved Dora the explorer.

Why do they have to grow up??

we have had email issue due to setting up a T-Hub 2, blogger
has changed my primary email address and won't let me change
it back...........

oh big excitement is last week I was able to do a spot of whale watching
from our yard, amazing creatures.

So I will be back tomorrow with photos of whales, sewing
new quilt, clamshells, Erin's quilt.

Worlds Laziest Cat.....

Starting at 7am this morning I have taken a photo of Henry

every hour.

7 hours in the one chair, the only movement was to change positions

LOADS of strips to be sewn!

Irish Chain Love

I made a start today on the quilt my friends

and I are all making. 

I love the Irish chain block I can see a queen size

Irish chain quilt in my future

and the fabrics I am using

a mix of Minnick & Simpson,

3 Sisters and the blue I got yesterday

the red is out of my stash its an older

Jinny Beyer that was discontinued a 

couple of years ago :(

the pattern is called Chains and Stars.

and I might add its one of those quilts with not so good

instructions, I shall have to warn the girls before they

start on theirs.

Today

I cleaned the house, caught up on the washing

then headed downstairs to my sewing room to find

a pattern for Master A's quilt.

This is what I found

Master A is only 3 so it should do him for a few years

I decided to make Miss K a quilt of

Granny Squares using my stash of

Ruby by Bonnie and Camille

there is a fabulous tutorial here

the tutorial is for a

4 blocks wide, 5 blocks long quilt

I want it to fit a single bed so I thought

I would make a 5 wide, 6 long top

I finished this block over the weekend

and have 1 ohio star left to make to have block 2

finished, but I got sidetracked by Granny Squares

maybe I will get it done tomorrow.

Time well spent

I have sewn some more hexagons and have another 18 waiting to

be sewn together

I found my Christmas Fun buttons

and fabrics

bought the floss yesterday

and have the first block ready to stitch tonight

and the applique ready to sewn on

and I have done some work on my SKoW

I think I am good until the end of May :)



4 more sleeps

Until I fly home to my babies and Webby. Apparently they are coping just fine without me there keeping them all in check and fed properly :).

Having a great time here though, we do coffee out everyday, we potter, we shop, I have been to see our house, the house itself is fantastic but my much loved cottage garden that I spent lots of hours and lots of money on has met its maker, it's pretty much dead in parts and my front garden is just awful. Had a few words with the tenants and a few more with the real estate who have assured me it will be bought back to how it was when we left and not at our expense and they are getting a gardener in at their expense too I mean really how hard is it to turn on a tap everyday and water it.

We have a treatment schedule in place, is going to be a hard road to travel but you have to have a little faith I guess in the medical professionals that they are doing the right things.

Off up the coast on Tuesday to visit some patchwork shops, I went to see Pauline at Calico Crossroads put my name down for the next button club Lynette Anderson does and picked up my patterns and fabric for Gail Pan's Homecoming Lane I posted it home along with 2 quilt tops that I get to quilt on Frank when I get home.


Will also be having a quiet narky word with my siblings before I leave too I am very over their he said, she said behavior and to be honest I am just not interested in their crap I have other things to worry about these days like my mum and my boy who is having done health issues of his own.......

I have managed to get quite a bit of the stitchery I bought down with me done, it's Leanne Beasleys Sew, Laugh, Love it's very relaxing here and I have been sleeping so well I just hope I continue to sleep this well when I get home on Thursday

Oh and there is also 5.6kgs less of me not to bad for 6 weeks of eating well and drinking far to much water. That kitchenaid blender will be on my kitchen bench sooner than I expected lol.

Trying to keep busy

So that means serious sewing time.

Dh has been fabulous, he has kept the kids

occupied for me today and the house quiet

I didn't sleep very well last night

and I had a hangover due to a

serious case of drowning my sorrows

and I was up way to early like 6am 

anyhoo, last night I picked out 2 quilt patterns

1 time consuming, complex pattern

and 1 oh so simple pattern

I started on the complex one and after

repeatedly unpicking it I put it aside

for another day when I don't have so much

on my mind and when I can concentrate

This is what I made instead ( its not the oh so easy pattern either)

fabric is Fig tree quilts, there is a pale yellow spot 2 1/2"

border to go on and then a redy floral  5 1/2" border

and its done, ready for quilting as soon as I get some wadding

and backing fabric later in the week, once this is sewn up tomorrow

I will start on the 2nd oh so easy pattern, just to keep busy

 I stitched block 8 of In My Garden together after dinner

and have done nearly all the stitching tonight  (4 words to go)

while I tried to watch tv

block 9 is finished I will get that sewn up ready for stitching in

front of the tv tomorrow night

and the fabric I bought in Batemans Bay

In My Garden progress

Slowly but surely I am getting the blocks

finished.

I started Block 7 the other night, and spent an

evening stitching all the stems etc of

blocks 5 & 6

and the start of block 7

I also started a small quilt today, one of the

Prairie Womens Sewing Circle, its a foundation pieced

one and I only have 1 block done so far

19 more to go.

The girlies start school holidays tomorrow.

Heres to a summer of little fighting

lots of beach time and time to sew.

Busy Busy Busy

with housework and In My Garden

today I managed to clean the house and sew blocks 3 & 4 together

and all together

I even got time to stitch more of these together

the final row just needs to be sewn into the blocks

thats tomorrows job then I guess I will have to

sort them out and start sewing rows together.

I am still stitching block 5, I got the house finished at

quilting group yesterday, now I just have 2 giant trees

and the tree flowers and leaves and it will be done.

Its been a productive day for me.
