I sourced this gorgeous pattern, it's called Irish Circles 

and is by Karen Cunningham, I'll be ordering it this week

                         

Another steam punk block missing it's centre circle though, 

and there is another block finished no photo of it yet though 

I think that takes my Steam Punk block tally to 28

All stitched together (and unironed) today while I was on the sidelines at soccer

                                   

I found this fabulous book/magazine before soccer, 

there are a couple of projects I want to make

Still Alive

                     In very random order here is some of whats been happening 

over the last 3 months

Midnight At the Oasis designed by Jen Kingwell, just needs the final border

              

I took myself to Ballarat and spent the day with the one and only

Jen Kingwell, we worked on The Circle Game

                  

Soccer season is well and truly underway 

                   

I travelled to Nowra for the PSSA soccer trials, for the Far South Coast

with this gorgeous girl

                 

Green Tea and Sweet Beans is waiting to be quilted, by hand

                     

We took a road trip on a cold miserable day just to get out of the house

                          

We found Ratty, Henrys most loved toy, he has had ratty

since he was a teeny little kitty

                       

This girl is a fully qualified Soccer Referee, as its her first year she 

can only run the sidelines but she is getting paid and

loving it

                     

This is on my to do list, its called 

My Small World and is designed by Jen Kingwell

                 

I've got  2 secret sewing projects destined for Quilt Market in the US

                   

Bring Me Flowers designed by Jen Kingwell, is my focus project at the moment, I have 2 full

alternate blocks and 8 half alternate blocks to stitch and I can

start sewing this baby up, I also need to add centre to one block and

add some stems

                     

This girl ran 4 kms last Friday in the Zone Cross Country, now for a girl

who ran along the beach for her school cross country before heading to

the hilliest course on the coast she did well to finish middle of the field

                      

Steam Punk, another Jen Kingwell pattern, I actually have around 24 blocks finished,

I've put this aside to finish Bring Me Flowers

                          

 

and as its Mothers Day, this photo of my mama was taken when she was 2, 

today is the 2nd of many more Mothers Day's to come without her. 

I miss her everyday

and would give anything just to talk to her once more

                      

** In case you hadn't noticed I am a total Jen Kingwell fan,

her book 'Quilt Lovely' is fabulous and worth getting

Busy Busy Busy

In no particular order this is what I have been 

working on of late

Steam Punk by Jen Kingwell

       A Bionic Bag (bk) and I made a Sew Together Bag

the interior pockets open

and closed

Auntie Greens Garden is really starting to

take shape, I am working on the top border

at the moment getting closer to finishing this

quilt will every stitch

it was really hard to get a decent photo of it and its not as 

green as it looks, I just need some hand quilting lessons and

I'll finish it off properly

Henrietta the Hedgehog and family

When the gorgeous GnomeAngel put out the call for 

quilty peeps to join the Hazel QAL I jumped at

the chance, I have wanted to make a Hazel the Hedgehog for the 

longest time 

First decision was WHAT fabric to make it in,

I couldn't decide and as I am lacking

in the modern style fabrics a little shop

was in order.

I ended up buying a little bundle of

The Linen Cupboard by Emma Jean Jansen

and Moda Bella Solid in white

and a linen I have had since 2009

so I have spent the last week making Hedgehogs

12 babies and I large mama, Henrietta

now my little quilt isn't finished as I didn't think about binding

or backing or even a border, but I will amend that over the weekend

as I am visiting the lovely store I bought my lc bundle from.

I found it easiest to lay the spines out in  

order before I eyeballed the sewing line, I had to

do quite a bit of reverse sewing until I laid them out IN ORDER

before sewing them, 

I hate reverse sewing!

Green Tea & Sweet Beans go traveling

What a week I have had, I have made lots of progress on

Green Tea and Sweet Beans

I had my haircut off and now its uber curly

I travelled to Nowra for a soccer meeting,spent the night

in a lovely motel and got to visit Spotlight

I had to redo this block because i cut the background the wrong way

my first mass drop purchase

today I am doing a Working with children check webinar

can I just say its really really really boring, so I am 

multitasking and cutting blocks out for the next

section of Green Tea & Sweet Beans

I will also be packing a suitcase and my sewing ready

for tomorrow, when I fly home to see my daddy and to help

my brother celebrate his 50th birthday on Saturday night

I'll be home on Tuesday, and I am very excited

Green Tea and Sweet Beans

Was a BOM offered by Amitie Textiles way back in 2008/2009

I was very new to the quilting world but I knew that

one day I would have to make this quilt.

Early last year I was alerted to the fact that the

GTSW BOM patterns had been made into a 

retail pattern booklet and it was on sale

I jumped in and bought the pattern, once it arrived I had a 

read saw that it was a hand pieced mammoth and filed

the pattern away into the way to hard basket, as there was

no way I was going to be hand piecing a whole quilt

unless it was 100% appliqué.

Over the weekend, I found myself home alone (very unusual 2 on a cub camp

the other at a birthday sleepover, the hubster at golf) and as I had spent my

morning decluttering, cleaning and scrubbing, I wanted a new

hand project to work on, my options were 

Gossip in the Garden by Annie Downs

or 

Green Tea and Sweet Beans by Jen Kingwell.

I phaffed around unable to make up my mind,  then while

dinner was cooking I decided the GTSW was it, so I prepped 

appliqué block 1 and voila

Arrrgh hand piecing time, I had a practice and made a 4 patch

block so I was certain I could do it and yippee those little 

pinwheels are last nights achievment, the bottom one

does need a press.

and that is where I am up to, I am trying to get a few of the blocks ready 

to stitch because in 2 weeks I am off to see my daddy and 

my brother, my brother is turning 50 and that is a milestone

I need to celebrate with him. He doesn't know I am coming

we told him that it was just too expensive 1 month out from

Santa visiting, but we would be thinking of him, 

but my daddy knows and I can't wait to see his face when 

we arrive at his party......

(I have been collecting text prints for the backgrounds, and it

will be made up from my stash, I may or may not

buy some different lush fabrics to add in)

11/4" hexagons are on the way so are 3" clamshells

they are looking like great things to stitch while

flying.
