Finally

I have a chance to update the blog

last post I was at home after the family bought me

home from our camping trip, well, I put my big girl 

panties on and re joined the family that afternoon and

after the initial shock I am happy to say

I had a nice relaxing time away

we went fishing

we all caught fish, some more than others (me)

mainly flathead and 2 bream

and the pelicans enjoyed the fish frames

I came home to a package at the PO for me,

I won a prize on Lynette Anderson's blog

I made her 21 000 comment.

I just need some time to sit and stitch it

and the next Lancaster package

this was delivered to me as we were driving out

the driveway the day we went away

and lots of Tail Feathers progress

I don't fancy needle turning those little dots, so do you

think satin stitch would work

that means I only have 3 blocks left to stitch and lots of 

log cabins to sew

The girlies went back to school yesterday, YAY

and I have decided that I will attempt to cook something

yummy for their lunch boxes, today they took pizza scrolls

tomorrow they will get a slice of banana cake with caramel

icing and a bacon, cheese and zucchini muffin

if anyone has some yummy recipes to share I would really

appreciate it.

I am not the camping type

I can admit it, dh will agree 100%.

That statement is so true and the proof is in the fact that I am sitting in the comfort of our home with Henrycat, while the rest of the family are camping.

I do have some guilt though, I really should just pull my big girl pants on and head back to the family, but part of me prefers it at home in comfort, hot water in my taps, a flushing toilet at the end of the hallway shall I continue.

I am supposed to be going back to the family tomorrow but I think I will enjoy the peace & quiet until later today and then take myself back to them & relax and read a book, no sewing it's too hard at night by lamp light and my eye sight isn't the best these days & they have the alcohol with them

I can always come home again tomorrow lol

Some people are designed to be happy campers, I am just not one of them, in fact my parents never took us camping we always stayed at the beach in a shack they rented for 2 weeks each summer, it had hot water & a flushing toilet, pure luxury compared to being jammed in like sardines in a caravan park.

Lordy what am I doing

So in preparation for 4 days of doing as little as

possible I have prepared 3 

Tail Feathers blocks,

16 Japanese Jane blocks

packed 3 books

ear plugs, panadol 

and alcohol lol

Do you like my old fishing creel basket, I picked it up

at an op shop last week, I think its fabulous and its

perfect for my sewing

and inside is my

Head Lamp, Tail Feathers x 3 blocks, glasses and 

glasses cleaning spray

Japanese Jane and the DJ book and my camera

the ironing basket is empty

the camper trailer is packed

Sewing machine has been put to bed

and Block 3 of Tail Feathers

wish me luck, I am going to need it

Putting things into Perspective

Its been an eye opening 24 hours for me

in my former crafting life I was a scrapbooker

I was a member of 2 sites, and made some wonderful online

friendships that have since moved over to Facebook

yesterday a lady who was also on one of those sites

posted on her facebook page that her beloved daughter

had passed away from Cancer,

she was 13 years old.

 I have also reconnected with another friend

only to find that she had just spent 12 months 

fighting for her life, and it appears that she has

WON her battle with Breast Cancer,

this lady is my age, 41....

It got me thinking, life is way to short

so my priorities are changing.

I am a very anal organised person, if I know

we have visitors coming, I will clean the house, 

even if I cleaned it the day before.

I have to make my bed everyday

I cannot stand clothes on the floor

I used to stress with blogging, why

didn't anyone comment on my posts,

who cares if no one comments, I know

people are reading, I see it in my stats

its OK to not comment

so from today

I will try to just go with the flow, if I don't have the

exact ingredient the recipe calls for

I will try to wing it.

Really who cares if the bed isn't made (i do)

and there are dishes in the sink.....

my priority from today is

to ensure my children and husband are

happy and content, 

to play more games 

to spend more time with those I love

to dance in the rain

to just have FUN.

Cancer Sucks, 

it really SUCKS

in amongst all of that I have stitched the second block

of Tail Feathers, and I am now starting the 3rd.

block 2

and blocks 1 & 2 together

I have prepped 16 Japanese Jane blocks,

all applique blocks as we are going on a wee break next

week, 4 days of no phone calls, no routine,

just 4 days of relaxing, swimming and stitching

not travelling to far as DH needs to be able to get home if

there are any major drama's at work

Dear Jane est 2008

Yes 2008 is when I started my Dear Jane

its only taken me 4 and a bit years

to get as far as I have.

Can someone pass the tissues please, as I

have LOST 6 blocks :(

and the beginnings of DJ # 2, lovely oriental fabrics

from my stash, I am sure my stash grows while

I am sleeping, but I have had the Japanese prints

since 2009, saving them for the PERFECT project

Crazy, crazy crazy

I have joined up with

to restart my Dear Jane Journey, I have

4 rows already sewn

thenI had the bright idea that perhaps

I should work on a NEW DJ quilt

using oriental fabrics.....

somebody slap me now :)

Jennie has started a flickr group

will share the link later

so todays plan is to find all those blocks

I have made already, find my book and

rulers, clean up my sewing room so 

I can make a block or 2
