Lots of Quilting Progress

when I am stressed I sew

and

I sew as much as I can

and as my stress level is a bit out of control

at the moment

I have done quite a bit of sewing

starting with my mummy's chemo quilt

this little bit of love, is just waiting to be quilted now

it has all its borders on

the block layout has been swapped around a little bit

and its bright and happy and I hope it

makes Mum feel a little bit better on a bad day

and that she feels the love I have for her when she

is snuggling under it

and In My Garden, as of 4pm today it just needs its final border

stitched on, then when I get home I will quilt it, just

in the ditch very basic but that is all it needs

I will take proper photos of both quilts tomorrow when my

quilt holder uperers are awake and home from

school.

My sister is home from her holiday, I have spoken to her

she is in shock like the rest of us, its the unknown that

we aren't liking, I spoke to my brother yesterday

he said he didn't know what he should do, not

that any of us know what we should do

I am so happy that I am going

home next week, it will be the first of a few trips

home this year, I am hoping to go down at least once every

12 weeks, for as long as I am needed.

Life can be so unfair sometimes, but I guess that is what life is

all about. You take the happy with the sad, the good with the bad

and we are now taking one day at a time.



My Mummy

has cancer,

Non Hodgkins Lymphoma

and

stage 3A lung cancer

she saw her oncologist this morning and

next week starts radiation and chemotherapy

treatment.

Its a very scary time for us all but she is very positive that she

will still be around in 20 years

she asked could they give her the thick white hair chemo

as she has very thin hair at the moment.

Lots of prayers are still needed that my mummy

wins the biggest fight of her life.

I am flying home next week for about 10 days

to do what I can do to help, to spend some time with her

and to give her the quilt I made yesterday.

Its my mummy's chemo quilt

stitched with lots of love, just for her.

Now if you know my mama

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not say anything unless she does

as my sister and brother still haven't been told.

I was only told because they had to cancel postpone their trip

to visit us at the end of Febuary.

They will both find out

tomorrow

fingers, toes, everything crossed please

and I am going home yippee

Trying to Think Positive

but if my dh tells

everything is going to be FINE

once more I am going to smack him over

the head with a frying pan........

I know he means well

but we already know

everything isn't going to be fine

today is the day we find out

just how full on the fight

is going to be

and the waiting to know is the hardest thing

 I am dealing with at the moment

Trying to keep busy

So that means serious sewing time.

Dh has been fabulous, he has kept the kids

occupied for me today and the house quiet

I didn't sleep very well last night

and I had a hangover due to a

serious case of drowning my sorrows

and I was up way to early like 6am 

anyhoo, last night I picked out 2 quilt patterns

1 time consuming, complex pattern

and 1 oh so simple pattern

I started on the complex one and after

repeatedly unpicking it I put it aside

for another day when I don't have so much

on my mind and when I can concentrate

This is what I made instead ( its not the oh so easy pattern either)

fabric is Fig tree quilts, there is a pale yellow spot 2 1/2"

border to go on and then a redy floral  5 1/2" border

and its done, ready for quilting as soon as I get some wadding

and backing fabric later in the week, once this is sewn up tomorrow

I will start on the 2nd oh so easy pattern, just to keep busy

 I stitched block 8 of In My Garden together after dinner

and have done nearly all the stitching tonight  (4 words to go)

while I tried to watch tv

block 9 is finished I will get that sewn up ready for stitching in

front of the tv tomorrow night

and the fabric I bought in Batemans Bay

So very Sad

I just received some devastating news

can't go into it too much yet

I will share eventually

but I am absolutely shattered

devastated

sad

scared

worried

and I wish I wasn't here.

If you are the praying kind

please say a few prayers

for my entire family

we are going to need all the help we can get

over the next few months

I'll be back soon, I just need some time to

process the news I have been given

and to give up smoking!

First finish for 2012

I have been storing crates, boxes of fabric,

boxes of stuff, my empty sewing machine box

and other 'stuff' under the quilty beasts table

I see that stuff everyday, and everyday it

drives me crazy.

So today at lunch I decided that today was the

day to make the quilty beast table a skirt.

So I dug through my most likely never to be used fabric

and found a range that I thought would work as I

had enough to do my thing with

2 hours of sewing,

14 cup hooks,

5 metres of curtain wire stuff

7 metres of fabric and

ta da

the quilty beast has a skirt

and I love the change it has made to my sewing room

and Henrycat has a new hiding place to chase

his lizards into lol

I have left the back open as its against the wall unless the beast

is in use

Two of the girlies and I went to Tura Beach today to collect

a Sunbeam Reversagrill. I can't wait to use it

It can be used with the grill plate

or with the flat plate

I am planning on using the grill plate more than the

flat plate.

I have started stitching again at night.

I am onto the final block of In My Garden,

I have 2 and bit little blocks to go

then

2 big blocks to sew together.

Then it will be all sewn together, borders added

and quilted.

I can't wait to get it done and hanging up somewhere.

School goes back on Monday yippee, the kids can't wait and

if I am honest neither can I, its been a l-o-n-g 6 weeks.

I have a housework date tomorrow, then we have some of dh's

family arriving, we haven't seen them since our wedding and they haven't met our girls

so it should be a fun day.

Sunday we are planing on going for a hike up Mt Imlay if the weather

is fine otherwise it will be a day in my sewing room for me.



Shopping from our holiday

From Bungandore I bought theses

A Singer Sewing machine caddy box

and this delicious trinket box

and from a little shop in Mogo where I went searching for

Silicone egg poachers to use when we are camping

I found these tins, and I love them.



thats all the shopping I did, oh I did by some fabric but thats downstairs

being used in my Some Kind Of Wonderful quilt.
