is finished

it was finished on Thursday night in front of the tv

while I watched

Midsomer Murders on the ABC

I love that show

today I have a date with Holly Leaves, I want to get them finished 

so I can finish Friends for Christmas.

I am not feeling 100% today, totally self inflicted

so it will be an easy day of hand sewing for me.

Progress

I managed to get my 2 small quilt tops sewn together

yesterday, I started then lost interest, then gave myself

a slap and started again :)

and last night I stitched the centre of Lancaster

together, tonight I will stitch it onto the

then block 1 is officially finished :)

and I can finish stitching down the holly leaves

on Friends for Christmas, only 8 more to go

I admit to being rather slack in keeping up with 

any BOM's that I sign up for........

I tend to collect them until I have all the

blocks then have a big sewing week/s of

completing them, even though when a new one arrives

I tell myself that I AM GOING TO KEEP UP.

Monday I had happy mail in the form of a 

Sue Daley EPP BOM

'Lancaster'

so far so good I have started block 1, and will stitch it

each night in front of the tv until its done.

look at all those clamshells.........

see progress is being made on block 1 :)

then I also have to finish this little quilt which has been 

waiting for what seems like years to be finished

the foundation pieced blocks and the sashings

that is todays plan of attack, to sew it in to a top

it came with the backing and binding and I

have enough wadding to finish it :)

then I need to keep up with my small quilt of the month

quilts, this is the next one to be done

the fabrics have been selected from the scrap box

and then I will have another  5 to be caught up 

no pressure AT ALL!

and look what I grew in the garden

and I also managed to get 2 out of 3 orchids to flower

love this one its a pale yellow/green

and the last flower on this little one

the naughty puppy is lying in wait for some 

unsuspecting tourists to walk out the front

once he sees them he will bark at the them then race

to the back fence to continue barking forgetting

he can't actually see over the back fence to bark

It'a a me, Mario

I know that at the start of the year I said that 2012 was

the year of the Stash and UFO, I was only going to sew with what I had

on hand and try so hard not to purchase new fabrics

(I personally think that I have done very well to stick to my

year of the stash) but I have caved

Last night I bought new fabric, lots of new fabric

from the Fat Quarter Shop

for a quilt along I found yesterday

I am a Super Mario Bros. addict, we have

Super Mario Bros for the wii, for ds

we used to have him for the nintendo 64

and as the new games are released we buy them

well yesterday I found a 

Super Mario Bros. Quilt A Long 

and I knew that I was going to make

this quilt.

Dh just laughed, the girls are already fighting

over who gets the finished quilt...

excuse me girlies that would be ME

how cute is this quilt, now all I need is to find the

wash-away stabiliser they use and as soon as 

my fabrics arrive I will be good to go :)

I have sewn 4 more granny squares :)

and tomorrow its off to Bega for

the zone athletics carnival, I will be watching with 

Hexagons and holly leaves  in hand :)

Granny Squares

Yesterday I felt the urge to sew something on 

my sewing machine, I didn't want to start a 

new project as I have 2 UFO's still to

finish, so I pulled out my Granny squares to

work on, I was able to stitch 4 blocks to add

to the pile

aren't they sweet, the fabric is Ruby by Bonnie and Camille

and this is what my cutting table looks like,

todays plan is to keep making blocks until

all those little squares are used.

When I have finished making the blocks, I would like

to set them on point, my question to you is

how do I work out the size of the block I need to cut the

triangles out of to be able to have them on point??

Hmmm maybe I should google it :)

Oh and the last of my EPP hexagons arrived yesterday

I am not basting them until I have stitched all the flowers in

my little plastic box.

Still Stitching

 Friends for Christmas, I managed to stitch another

3 holly leaves down on Saturday night, now I only

have 10 more to stitch down before I can sew the 

top together. Luckily Christmas is still

41/2 months away :)

Lots of progress on my hexagons too.

I had 400 hexagon papers arrive in the post last 

week, waiting on the other 600 that I ordered

so I cut up another 2 jelly rolls of hexagons 

and started the long process of basting .

My pile of completed hexagon flowers now stands

4 inches high :)

Its impossible to get a photo of anything on the ironing

board without Henrycat getting in the picture :)

and this is my pile of basted, waiting to become flowers

and from the top, there are approximately

80 flowers in this box

and Happy mail Today. I pre ordered this book way back in

April, and it finally arrived today. I can't wait for the weather 

to warm up so I can do some quilting on the 

'Frank, the quilty beast' again, Its just way to cold in the shed

to stay in there for any length on time.

Yesterday we headed off to Bemboka, for Em's last soccer game

of the season. Her team have been on the bottom of the ladder

since soccer started, we were goal-less until Emma kicked her teams FIRST goal 

last month, well yesterday they managed to kick 4, 

1 was dis allowed as it came off

someones arm :(, and 1 was unintentionally kicked into their

opponents goals, so only 2 were counted.

But they got TWO GOALS

its such shame the season has finished as they finally got it 

together.

Next year they will do so much better, we are sure of it.

I've Been Bitten

by the hexagon bug

last week I bought 400 3/4" hexagon papers

then spent 2 days cutting out fabric

and 3 nights basting my hexagons

the old fashioned way with needle and thread

and as of today I have these 

and the container of basted hexies

and the container of needing more paper pieces to baste

today's growing pile of freshly cut hexagons

the jelly roll and a half of waiting to be cut hexagons

and the offcuts of todays hexagons.

I ordered more hexagon papers on Sunday, another

1000, they should be here tomorrow or Thursday 

which is perfect timing as Miss Emma made it into the

school athletics team and we are off to cold cold cold Bega

on friday for the zone carnival. I will be basting hexagons

while we are there.

but I am really unsure of what I am going to make with them,

I have a collection of older range jelly rolls so I am using them

the ranges are Martinique, Beach House, Patisserie and I have

some Garden Party and Astor Manor charm square packs.

If anyone knows where I could get a 2nd charm square pack of

Garden Party and Astor Manor, could you please let me know as I 

only get 4 hexes per charm square and I need 7 for a full flower.

I still haven't finished off the leaves on my Friends For Christmas quilt

so I might take that with me to on Friday.

Fingers in to many pies, is constantly ringing in my ears

at the moment lol
